French pop star Sylvie Vartan said for the first time on television her Armenian descent by her father Georges Vartan, former press officer at Embassy of France in Sofia. The singer had not ever said in public that she was also of Armenian descent. She said on the show "Vivement dimanche" on a question of Michel Drucker : "Yes I'm Armenian side of my father" Born in Bulgaria on August 15, 1944 by Bulgarian mother, she arrived in Paris on December 1952 with her parents. She started in show business at 16 years old, and immediately met with success; especially with a song by Charles Aznavour and Georges Garvarentz, " La plus belle pour aller danser" (The most beautiful to go dancing). She was married first once with famous rocker Johnny Hallyday, and then with the American film producer Tony Scotti. Her son, David Hallyday is also a pop star in France.
