BREAD AND FLOUR PRICES GROW BY 15.2% AND 11.3% RESPECTIVELY

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. Bread and flour prices
grew by 15.2% and 11.3% respectively in Armenia in September
2007 on December 2006.
According to the RA National Statistical Service, a 1%
inflation of food commodities was registered in the country in
September on August 2007, mainly due to a considerable rise in
prices of butter, vegetable oil, bread and fish products, egg.
2.8% inflation was registered in the commodity group of
bread products in September on August 2007, which was mainly
conditioned by a 4.1% growth in bread prices. The growth in
flour prices made 2.3% in the indicated period.
7.9% inflation was registered in the commodity group of
butter and vegetable oil in September on August 2007, mainly due
to a 14.5% growth in butter prices and 13.4% growth in prices of
vegetable oil. Prices of butter and vegetable oil grew by 16.6%
and 8.2% respectively in September 2007 on September 2006.
The average price of eggs grew by 3.4% in September on
August 2007. 2.4% inflation was registered in the commodity
group of fish products. There was 0.9% inflation in the
commodity group of meat products, mainly due to 1.2% and 2.7%
rise in prices of pork and poultry respectively. Mutton and beef
prices rose by 0.6% and 0.7% respectively in the indicated
period.
0.1% and 0.5% price growth was registered in the commodity
group of coffee, tea and cocoa and in the milk product
commodity group respectively in September on August 2007, while
prices of confectionery, other foodstuffs, soft drinks,
alcoholic drinks and cigarettes remained unchanged.
There was a 10.9% price growth in the fruit commodity group
in September 2007 on September 2006 and a 11.2% fall - as
compared with August 2007, mainly due to a fall in prices of
grapes (42.3%), pear (38.1%), peach (36.4%), apple (20.8%).
Prices of watermelon and melon fell by 1.5% and 10.5%
respectively.
8.2% price fall was registered in the commodity group of
vegetables and potato in September 2007 on September 2006, and
3% price fall was registered in September on August 2007, mainly
conditioned by a fall in prices of carrot (38.3%), cauliflower
(34.9%), beet (31.8%), eggplant (10.8%), garlic (8.8%), onion
(5.8%), green pepper (4.9%), tomato (4.8%). Potato prices fell
by 1.2% in the indicated period.
