YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The Public Television
and Radio Company is already being prepared for the 2007
parliamentary elections: the elections will be covered according
to those standards which are envisaged by the law and European
structures. Alexan Haroutiunian, the Public Television and Radio
Company Council Chairman stated about it on November 29 at the
"Urbat" club.
He mentioned that it was found out from the studies
implemented in Armenia by international organizations that
televiewers prefer to watch programs of 4 television companies,
including H1 and ORT. In A.Haroutiunian's words, at present
Armenian TV companies are still too far from not only Russian
and European TV companies but also from neighboring Georgia in
many cases.
For TV companies have a progress in Armenia, A.Haroutiunian
believes that the advertisement activity must be regulated first
of all. "The state that today exists in the field of
advertisement is inadmissible. We must accept those standards
which exist in the European Union member countries," he
mentioned. Besides, A.Haroutiunian considers inadmissible the
circumstance that Armenian television companies broadcast
non-translated films when it is considered obligatory in many
countries.
In A.Haroutiunian's words, if Latin-American serials are
broadcast by the Public Television today, starting from the next
year, Armenian ones will be broadcast instead of them, programs
on cultural, educational and historic themes will add. He also
mentioned that a series of new international projects enjoying
great popularity, like the "Who wants to become millionaire?"
"Armenian Superstar," "100 Variants" programs, will be broadcast
by the Public Television.
It was also mentioned that no other competitions, but the
world and Europe football championships, summer and winter
olympiads and other international competitions in which
sportsmen from Armenia will take part, will be broadcast by H1.
Home sport will be paid more attention instead of it.
As, in his words, "it is impossible to create a new
television with old equipment," works of technical re-equipment
are in process at the Public Television at present. Those works
will finish in September of the next year. And it is envisaged
to finish those works at the Public Radio during the coming 1-2
months.
