VIVACELL AND MICROSOFT SIGN COOPERATION AGREEMENTS

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 6, NOYAN TAPAN. During a press conference
held within the framework of Digitec-2006 international
exhibition that started in Yerevan on October 6, Vahe Torosian,
Vice Chairman of the Microsoft Central and Eastern Europe
Department, said that yesterday the company signed agreements on
business cooperation and entreprenueral cooperation with
VivaCell company - one of the two mobile phone communication
operators in Armenia. It was noted that these are the first
agreements of such kind to have been signed by Microsoft with an
Armenian private organization since Microsoft opened its Yerevan
office in May 2006.
V. Torosian stated that by signing these agreements,
Microsoft confirms its decision to make investments in Armenia
and assist with the rapid development of the country's IT
sector. Under the agreements, VivaCell has the right to make use
of Microsoft's discount system for purchase of goods for a
three-year period. Besides, it will receive technical assistance
and use the privileges related to the management and servicing
of simplified licences. VivaCell will also purchase licenced
software packages from Microsoft.
It is noteworthy that Microsoft intends to create computer
teaching centers in Armenia (including in marzes).
