YEREVAN, OCTOBER 5, NOYAN TAPAN. The current owner
deliberately does nor relaunch the Vanadzor Chemical Complex,
member of the People's Deputy group Vahram Baghdasarian stated
in the RA National Assembly on October 4. According to him, for
years on end Prometey-Chimprom (Russia) has deliberately delayed
negotiations with various companies on sale of the enterprise.
Meanwhile, various units of equipment have been constantly
alienated which will make it impossible for the enterprise to
operate in future. Some workshops can still manufacture
production, particularly, the melamine and carbide workshops and
the chemical fibre plant, whose production is in demand.
Besides, according to the deputy, even now about three thousand
jobs can be created at the enterprise.
V. Baghdasarin said that some workshops operated before
February 2006, but their operation was discontinued in
connection with the envisaged sale negotiations. At the moment
the complex has a debt of nearly 7 million USD which is growing
day after day.
In response to a question of the deputy, RA Prime Minister
Andranik Margarian said that the complex has been privatized, so
the government is not empowered to make its owner sell it or
otherwise decide its fate.
In the personal opinion of the NA Vice Speaker Vahan
Hovhannisian, the government may impose such taxes on the
enterprise that will make the owner either sell it or operate it
again.
