MOST PART OF APPLICANTS OF "GOLDEN APRICOT" SECOND

YEREVAN, MAY 19, NOYAN TAPAN. 250 films from 45 countries
of the world will be shown in competitive and extra-competitive
programs during the days of the "Golden Apricot" second
international film festival to take place in Yerevan, on June
12-17. Both number of films to be shown and number of countries
they are from is in twice more than they were last year.
Susanna Harutiunian, the Chairwoman of the Film journalists
and Film Critics Association mentioned in the interview with the
Noyan Tapan correspondent that the geography of the
participation in the festival is wider this time and "stretches
from Chile to Nicaragua and form Australia to Malaysia." She
ephasized that this year the most part of the film authors
involved in the "Golden Abricot" competitive programs are
foreign directors.
According to Susanna Harutiunian, this year Atom Egoyan,
the Canadian Armenian famous film director will be at the head
of the drawing jury of the "Golden Apricot" film festival. 15
feature films from 13 countries shot in 2003-2005 are included
in this competitive department.
Besides Atom Egoyan, other famous film artists will also be
in the jury, most of them leads international high-class film
festivals of A group: Klod Miller, a French film director, Yos
Stelling, a Holland director, Saimon Fild, an English festival
critic, and Claus Ederr, a FIPRESCI member (Film Critics'
International Federation Jury). According to S.Haroutiunian, the
premiere of Klod Miller's new film will take place during the
days of the festival, and on the occasion of the 60th birthday
of Yos Stelling, a retrospective showing of his works will be
organized.
The Chairman of the documentary films jury of the "Golden
Apricot-2005" international film festival is Juanes_Pier Rehmen,
the Director of the Marseilles International Film Festival, and
the members are Victor Kusakovski, a director (Russia), Pier
Vintonic, a director from Canada, Gary Konklin from the USA and
Ruben Gevorgian, a film director from Armenia. 14 documentary
films from 13 countries are included in this competitive
program.
Susanna Haroutiunian also mentioned that this year the most
part of applicants presented documentary films after the
selection of which many valuable works left out of the
competitive program. Hence, these 100 documentary films will be
presented in a separate "Documentary World" program.
