YEREVAN, November 26 (Noyan Tapan). D 7 was held in the
international open tournament on chess dedicated to the 75th
jubilee of world nine-time champion Tigran Petrosian in Yerevan
on November 25. Vacily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) and Pavel Smirnov
(Russia), who had the highest personal rating, beating their
rivals, earned six points each and top the tournament table
today. Ivanchuk beat Armenian representative Karen Asrian.
Beforehand another Armenian chess-players, who were among the
leaders, earned points. In particular, Ashot Anastasian, Tigran
Nalbandian, Artashes Minasian, Arsen Yeghiazarian registered
victories. Today four chess-players earned 5.5 points each.
Anastasian and Nalbandian are among them. 12 participants,
earning five points each, follow the first six chess-players.
Last but one tournament (D 8) was held on November 26.
