YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 26, NOYAN TAPAN. The French-Armenian
school operating in Yerevan since the beginning of the
educational year has received a license of educational
activities by the RA Ministry of Education and Science on
November 23. According to the information provided on the same
day during the official opening ceremony of the school by Serge
Smessov, the Ambassador of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of
France tp the Republic of Armenia, the birth of this school is
important for those, who study the French language in Armenia
and for the admirers of this language since children have no
opportunity to receive a complete French education anywhere
before entering higher educational institutions, that is from
the kindergarten up to the university. This school-preparatory
classes fills that lack by French standards.
Mr. Smessov mentioned that at present the school has 19
pupils, however, he expressed hope that this educational
institution having passed the examination of the time will have
50% more pupils next year. The school is not like institutions
having bilingual classes. It is a completely French school,
where not only Armenian but also French children study. The
teaching programs and methods are also French and are estimated
by the standards of that country. Children also learn Armenian
at this school. In the words of the Ambassador, the teaching of
the Armenian and French languages is coordinated and these two
directions do not hinder each other.
Serge Smessov mentioned that the Embassy of France in
Armenia has showed moral assistance to the creation of the
school.
In the words of Bagrat Yesayan, the RA Deputy Minister of
Education and Science, th establishment of this school is one of
the best manifestations of the Armenian French centuries-old
cultural and political relations. The opening of the preparatory
classes, in his conviction, strengthens the French presence in
the system of the RA education.
