YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, NOYAN TAPAN. The prose-writer Aghasi
Aivazian on November 21 died at the age of 82 after a long
illness.
Aghasi Aivazian was one of the writers representing the
Armenian prose and literature of the 1960s. He opened a new page
in the history of the Armenian classic literature by his unique
and colored prose.
In the words of the chairman of the Union of Writers of
Armenia Levon Ananian, Aghasi Aivazian created until the end of
his life. He wrote tens of books, the most distinctive of which
are the series of Tiflis stories. He was also the author of many
film scripts. "Aghasi Aivazian was a talented writer not only in
the prose genre. He proved talented in cinema and painting as
well," L. Ananian said.
Aghasi Aivazian was the editor-in-chief of the monthly
"Ekran" ("Screen") for many years, he founded the "Hayutyun"
("The Armenians") newspaper.
He always acted in the name of prosperity of his country
and people.
The last farewell ceremony will be held at the Chamber
Music House on November 24 at 12 am - 2 pm. Aghasi Aivazian will
be buried at the Yerevan City Pantheon on the same day at 2:30
pm.
