EXPORTS FROM ARMENIA GROW BY 23.2%, IMPORTS - BY 46.7% IN
JANUARY-AUGUST 2007 ON SAME PERIOD OF LAST YEAR

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, NOYAN TAPAN. The foreign trade of
Armenia made 934.1 bln drams or 2 bln 659.27 mln USD in current
prices in January-August 2007, including exports of 257.4 bln
drams or 733.54 mln USD and imports of 676.7 bln drams or 1 bln
925.73 mln USD. The foreign trade balance was negtaive by 419.2
bln drams (1 bln 192.19 mln USD), the balance without cargos
received as humanitarian aid - by 401.1 bln drams (1 bln 141.1
mln USD).
According to the RA National Statistical Service, exports
grew by 23.2%, imports - by 46.7% in January-August 2007 on the
same period of last year.
Exports to CIS countries made 220 mln 346.2 thousand USD in
January-August 2007, growing by 87% on the same period of 2006,
while imports amounted to 542 mln 13.2 thousand USD, growing by
56.3%. Exports to Russia made 125 mln 414.1 thousand USD in the
first eight months of this year, growing by 96.1%, imports - 343
mln 400.2 thousand USD, growing by 57.3%. Exports to Georgia
made 55 mln 640 thousand USD (57% growth), imports - 74 mln
413.3 thousand USD (70.3% growth). Exports to Ukraine made 27
mln 872.8 thousand USD (154.4% growth), imports - 107 mln 844.9
thousand USD (52.8% growth).
Exports to EU countries amounted to 357 mln 576 thousand
USD in January-August 2007, growing by 18% on the same period of
2006, imports made 593 mln 484.1 thousand USD, growing by 40.6%.
Exports to Belgium made 60 mln 564.2 thousand USD (16% decline),
imports - 108 mln 55.3 thousand USD (8.2% growth); exports to
Bulgaria - 18 mln 479.5 thousand USD (13.2% growth), imports - 17
mln 911.3 thousand USD (57% growth); exports to Germany - 108
mln 535.9 thousand USD (9.7% growth), imports - 69 mln 631.8
thousand USD (22.7% growth); exports to France - 6 mln 81.8
thousand USD (138.4% growth), imports - 42 mln 130 thousand USD
(78.4% grwoth); exports to Greece - 2 mln 290.1 thousand USD
(306.9% grwoth), imports - 50 mln 137.5 thousand USD (18.6%
growth); exports to Italy - 21 mln 313.4 thousand USD (10.2%
growth), imports - 56 mln 412.9 thousand USD (4.7% growth);
exports to the Netherlands - 103 mln 564.8 thousand USD (27.1%
growth), imports - 20 mln 515.3 thousand USD (34.5% growth),
exports to the UK - 1 mln 610 thousand USD (55.1% decline),
imports - 75 mln 465.8 thousand USD (51.7% growth); exports to
Spain - 15 mln 44 thousand USD (65.2% growth), imports - 7 mln
511.8 thousand USD (74.3% growth).
Exports to other countries (besides CIS and EU countries)
made 155 mln 617.1 thousand USD (11% decline), imports - 790 mln
232.8 thousand USD (45.3% growth) in January-August 2007,
including exports to Israel - 994.7 thousand USD (71.5%
decline), imports - 26 mln 978.9 thousand USD (56.2% decline);
exports to the US - 30 mln 618.6 thousand USD (13.9% decline),
imports - 132 mln 493.9 thousand USD (54.3% growth); exports to
Iran - 23 mln 168 thousand USD (18.1% growth), imports - 84 mln

940.5 thousand USD (36.9% growth), imports - 67 mln 360.5
