YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 21, NOYAN TAPAN. An agreement was signed
between Yerevan State University (YSU) and the Sofia Antipolis
University (Nice) on September 20. The agreement envisages
cooperation and exchange of programs between the two
universities.
In the words of the YSU rector Aram Simonian, the
University of Nice is a classic higher educational institution,
and the agreement is also important in that YSU is now
undergoing reforms, while the University of Nice has much
experience to pass to YSU in terms of regulating the issues
related to the Bologna process. "The signing of the program is
not an ordinary agreement. Only 40-45 out of over 100 agreements
signes are working," the rector said. The agreement envisages
close cooperation in the spheres of science and education and an
exchange of experts and students.
The senator - mayor of Nice Jacques Peyrat said that their
university is in third place in France by the number of
specialities taught (11). The university has 26 thousand
students and 62 research centers. "Like you, we have signed
numerous, namely, 400 agreements with various universities
around the world. This agreement is the 401st one," he stated.
"The signing of this agreement gives you access to the
Icanet, a scientific research center, whose members are Brazil,
Russia, France and Vatican. The center aims to collect and
process the data transferred by all satellites in the space,
which will allow to form a notion of other worlds existing
outside us, " the mayor of Nice informed those present. He
invited the Armenian side to visit the Icanet center next year,
which will be of great use for the Byurakan observatory.
