YEREVAN, JUNE 7, NOYAN TAPAN. In January-March, 2007 71 thousand and 795 tourists arrived in Armenia in comparison with 50 thousand and 679 tourists in the same period of the last year: the increase makes 41.7%. According to the account data, received BY RA Statistical Service from hotels, in January-March, 2007 7 thousand 678 tourists stayed at 33 hotels in Armenia. The 29.2% arrived in Armenia on business, 18.1% - on holiday and for entertainment, 0.1% - for education, 52.6% for other reasons. 28.8% of tourists who arrived in Armenia in January-March, 2007 (30.0% last year) came from CIS countries, besides 20.4% (23.7%) in the total number arrived from Russia. In the mentioned period the number of the tourists having arrived in Armenia from EU countries made 32.4% of the total number (27.4% in January-March, 2006), besides those, having arrived from France - 9.9% (7.8%), Germany - 6.7% (6.3%), Great Britain - 6.0% (6.0%), other EU countries - 9.9%. In the first quarter of 2007 38.8% (39.6%) of the total number of tourists arrived in Armenia from other countries of the world, besides 19.5% (18.3%) came from USA, 7.1% (6.9%) from Iran, 1.5% (1.5%) from Turkey, 1.3% (2.3%) from Canada, 9.4% (10.6%) from other countries.
