CARTOGRAPHIC FUND OF NATIONAL LIBRARY OF ARMENIA TO BE MADE

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, NOYAN TAPAN. The "Geodesy and
Cartography" state non-governmental organization of the Real
Property Land Survey attached to the RA Government presented on
November 27 40 titles of maps, including RA administrative and
physical, Nagorno Karabakh, Transcaucasus maps, to the National
Library of Armenia (NLA).
Hovsep Petrosian, the "Geodesy and Cartography" NGO
Executive Director mentioned that the NLA has a rich
cartographic fund. In his words, cartographic materials kept in
funds will be studied soon, and new maps will be produced based
on them.
In words of NLA Director Davit Sargsian, 11.453 titles of
unique, rare models of maps and atlases which were published in
1512-1801 are kept in the department of Fine Arts and
Cartographic Materials. The map of Mets (Great) Hayk,
"Hamatarats Ashkharhatsuyts" first printed map published in
Armenian, etc. are among them.
D.Sargsian mentioned that the fund of cartographic
materials is being added both with paternal and with foreign
materials. The NLA Director also stated that it is envisaged
jointly with the "Geodesy and Cartography Center" to make the
cartographic fund of the library digital.
