KHACHATRIAN'S LIFE AND ACTIVITY PUBLISHED

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, NOYAN TAPAN. Nora Melikian's "Devotee
of Journalism" book is dedicated to the life and activity of a
journalist and translator, party member and statesman Martin
Khachatrian (1925-2001), who was one of the deserved members of
journalistic family of Armenia in 60-90s. The famous journalist
worked in different spheres of the Republic's press for many
years, headed a leading institution of mass media such as
"Armenpress" information agency.
In the book the author presented M.Khachatrian's productive
activity in the Armenian media, particularly in "Armenpress",
his instructive experience in the sphere of journalism.
According to N.Melikian, the Armenian press, having 200
years' history, gave great journalists and publicists such as
Haroutiun Shmavonian, Grigor Artsruni, Stepanos Nazarian and
others, whose past way became an example for their followers who
have chosen that speciality. "A powerful army of journalists was
also formed in the Soviet years, who, bearing the
ideology of that system, were able to honourably discharge their
professional duty towards the nation. Martin Khachatrian,
organizer and artist of the journalism, also belongs to that
generation of journalists", N.Melikian mentioned.
