PERSIAN PAINTER JALIL JOKARI'S AND IRANIAN ARMENIAN
PHOTOGRAPHER SHAKE PETROSIAN'S EXHIBITION OPENS IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 2, NOYAN TAPAN - ARMENIANS TODAY. The
exhibition that opened on February 1 at Armenian Folk Art Museum
is dedicated to the 27th anniversary of victory of Iranian
Islamic revolution. More than 60 works by Persian painter Jalil
Jokari and Iranian Armenian photographer Shake Petrosian are
presented at the exhibition. Jalil Jokari presented miniatures
made by exclusively natural points, engraved silver jugs and
Shake Petrosian photographs taken at the Ashura ceremony in the
Iranian city of Yazd.
As Reza Atoufi, Adviser on Issues of Culture at IRI Embassy
in RA, mentioned at the opening of the exhibition, this year the
anniversary of Islamic revolution's victory coincided with the
month of Moharam and ceremony of Ashura. According to him, the
movement of Ashura and Hoseyn's rising had a great impact on the
Iran development.
According to R.Atoufi, the works presented at the
exhibition will enable the Armenian art-lovers to get acquainted
with the Persian culture. According to him, it's owing to this
culture that the Armenian and Persian peoples have survived for
centuries and have overcome many ordeals.
Gagik Gyurjian, RA Deputy Minister of Culture and Youth
Affairs, emphasized that as far back as in the 4-3rd millenniums
B.C. Iran had a developed culture and was one of the ancient
centers of world civilization and culture. According to him,
Iran was also a favorable place for creation of a whole school
of Armenian arts and we shouldn't forget that great miniaturist
Hakob Jughayetsi created in Iran and Hakob Hovnatan was a court
painter of Tehran in the 19th century, the latter bore the
title of "Naghsh Bashi."
