YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 1, NOYAN TAPAN. At the suggestion of
Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Chairman Ruben Hayrapetian,
the conduct of "Pyunik" Yerevan club at the "Commonwealth Cup"
tournament was discussed at the January 31 sitting of FFA
Executive Committee.
"Pyunik" Vice-Chairman Karen Haroutiunian, as well as club
Chairman, FFA Executive Committee member Khoren Hovhannisian
gave detailed explanations about the events of Moscow.
The FFA chairman put to voting the issue of
disqualification of the "Pynik" club and its deprivation of the
right to take part in the championship of the highest league of
Armenia for a 1-year term. However, as Noyan Tapan was informed
by the Football Federation Press Service, all those present at
the Executive Committee sitting voted against the FFA chairman's
proposal.
Then FFA Executive Committee made a decision, which, in
particular, said:
"FFA Executive Committee, discussing the decision of
"Pyunik" Yerevan club about refusing to take part in the
"Commonwealth Cup" semifinal, listening to the explanations of
"Pyunik" club management in connection with it, considering
that the "Pyunik" club heads could find more acceptable solutions in
the formed situation, taking into consideration the circumstance
that henceforth the "Pyunik" club was deprived of the right to
take part in the "Commonwealth Cup" by the Russian Football
Union, FFA Executive Committee decided:
1. to condemn the "Pyunik" club's act,
2. to suggest the "Pyunik" club discussing the issue of
wide publicity and calling to account those guilty."
