YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. On November 14 the RA Appeal Court on Civil Cases dismissed the case of recognizing the house in the address of Amirian 4/16 built in 1840s by opulent Mirzoyants as a construction of historic-cultural value. So the decision of the Yerevan Kentron and Nork-Marash Court of First Instance on evicting the present owner and destroying the construction was left unchanged. As the claimant, Lyudmila Haroutiunian, the present owner of the house, YSU Professor, sociologist stated at the November 14 press-conference, Armenian courts have no imagination what "cultural value," "cultural right protection" conceptions mean. According to her, in courts everything is measured by money. "The judge repeated continuously: how much money do you want, Madam, to satisfy you? They don't understand that there are other values but money which are not valued by money," L.Haroutiunian mentioned. According to her, the list of historic-cultural monuments of the capital wasn't affirmed for two years continuously. And when this was at last affirmed hundreds of monuments weren't included in this. "And whilemean all those monuments which were on the territories of construction works were distroyed," L.Haroutinian mentioned. Larisa Alaverdian, the RA Ombudswoman who was present at the press-conference stated that she is to meet with heads of some departments relating to the problem, including with the RA Minister of Culture and Youth Issues, the Yerevan Mayor. According to her, up today the Ministry of Culture isn't able to answer how happened that the tufa-built constuction with two-storeys cellars having a history of about 170 years from the cellars of which underground roads open to constructions of the same period under the Republic square, has been left out of the list of historic-cultural monuments of the city of Yerevan.
