YEREVAN, OCTOBER 31, NOYAN TAPAN. "Let's Save Our City," "Who are the Real Owners" and other placards were carried by the participants of the action-march dedicated to the preservation of Yerevan green zones held on October 29 on the initiative of the SOS-Yerevan coalition. This procession with participation of famous cultural figures, scientists and numerous Yerevan residents was a regular step of SOS-Yerevan coalition's struggle. Early in the morning the procession participants gathered near the Chamber Music House where a short open-air meeting was held. According to ethnographer Hranush Kharatian, "it's a shame to speak or even mention that our people has its share in the global civilization and creation of universal values" in consideration of the situation we have in Yerevan. According to H.Kharatian, this time we must be consistent and struggle till the end in order to achieve problem's final and legal solution. Literary critic Azat Yeghiazarian is sure that we must give a signal of SOS for the whole country as forests continue being destroyed at present. "Deforesting doesn't stop and if it goes on like this, the issue of the existence of the Armenian people will be endangered." Karine Danielian, coalition's Coordinator, reported that the next step will be the holding of hearings on nature protection at the National Assembly, which, according to the preliminary agreement, will be assisted by NA Speaker Artur Baghdasarian. She also noted that they hope that this time the authorities will listen to them and will get down to reasonable steps. Action participants walked towards Abovian street, passed the monument to Isahakian, walked along Isahakian street and went to Mashtots Avenue, then gathered at Theater Square where a concert was held. Aram Gharabekian, Art Director of the Armenian Chamber Orchestra, and orchestra musicians didn't join the action. This movement in protection of the cultural center and green zones of the park was formed as a result of their complaints. Two sectors of the complex near the front entrance of Chamber Music House were already being partly dismantled that day and perhaps this was the reason that Aram Gharabekian didn't take part in the march.
