YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. On July 20, the
employees of the 6th Department on Struggle with Organized Crime
of RA Police confiscated the equipment, as well as a batch of
licensed cassettes of well-known singers (Aramo, Emma Petrosian,
Artur Ispirian, Nune Yesayan, Michael Kotanjian and others) from
the recording studio of the Reco-Records company, after which a
large batch of forged audiocassettes with a tasteless design
appeared on the market. Singers Aramo, Artur Ispirian, writer
Vahram Sahakian and actor Hrant Tokhatian declared this during
the meeting at the Azdak (Stimulus) club. In their affirmation,
this forged production appeared on the market with the
assistance of some employees of the 6th Department. And under
these conditions, according to them, the motivations of
law-enforcement bodies that the actions aimed against
Reco-Records, including confiscation of original videocassettes
were carried out "in the interests" of the executors are
ungrounded.
V.Sahakian is sure that all this was organized by some
officials of police, which have a "roof" or work by the
principle of "godfather and brother." He mentioned that they are
going to meet with the country's president and present some
documents and video recordings proving this.
In the affirmation of the art workers, their copyright has
been violated for many years and they aren't protected by the
law. "We want a state producer organization to be created, which
will be engaged in production of singers' cassettes and we will
work with it. Moreover, we are ready to pay all state taxes, we
only need to specify them," they mentioned. In H.Tokhatian's
estimation, "first of all they need to specify the tax field, to
determine the price policy and to create a structure, which will
control this sphere."
