YEREVAN, January 14 (Noyan Tapan). The International Chess
Federation (FIDE) has published a list of the strongest
chess-players of the world as of January 1, 2005.
The men's list is still topped by the 13th world champion
Garri Kasparov (Russia), whose rating is 2804. Wishwanathan
Anand (India, 2786), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria, 2757), Vladimir
Kramnik (Russia, 2754), Peter Leko (Hungary, 2749), Alexander
Morozevich (Russia, 2741), Michael Adams (England, 2741), Peter
Swidler (Russia, 2735), Hudit Polgar (Hungary, 2728), Etienne
Bakrot (France, 2715).
Four Armenian chess-players place in the top hundred
strongest chess-players. It is Vladimir Hakobian (18th, rating
is 2693), Levon Aronian (22nd, 2684), Rafael Vahanian (33rd,
2670), Smbat Lputian (58th, 2640).
Armenian representative Elina Danielian places 42nd in the
list of 50 strongest female chess-players of the world.
FIDE also published lists of 20 strongest boys and girls.
Armenia isn't represented in this list.
