BOXER ALEKSAN NALBANDIAN PRETEND TO OLYMPIC MEDAL

ATHENS, August 24 (Noyan Tapan). Armenian representatives has won no medals in the 28th summer Olympic Games held in Athens up to now. Weightlifter Tigran Martirosian, showing 367.5-kilogram result (tearing off - 167.5 kilograms, clean and jerk - 200 kilograms), placed seventh. Georgy Asanidze (Georgia) became the Olympic champion in this weight class. Two Armenian track and field athletes also unsuccessfully performed. Armen Martirosian placed last 43th in triple jump with the result of 15 meters, 15 centimeters, and fast runner Marine Ghazarian placed 50th among 63 participants (100 meters - in 12.29 seconds). Armenian boxer Alexan Nalbandian (48-kilogram weight class) successfully performed. He beat Iraqi representative Ali Najah in 2 round and will compete with a Chinese wrestler in 1/4 finals. Wrestlers will start contention on August 24, and seven Armenian representative may really pretend to Olympic medals.
