YEREVAN, August 19 (Noyan Tapan). American-Armenian
actress Mary-Roze Abusefian (Lusine Shiraz) thinks that the
organization of "One Nation, One Culture" first Pan-Armenian
festival is a fine idea, but she doesn't agree with the
festival's title. She said about it during the August 18 press
conference, stressing that the festival should have been just
called Pan-Armenian, without mentioning "One Nation", because
this slogan is insulting for the Diaspora. According to her,
"every Diasporan-Armenian thinks could it be that we don't have
one nation?"
Mary-Roze Abusefian, who performed at the National Academic
Theater after G. Sundukian the day before with her "Life and
Love" mono-play within the framework of the festival, mentioned
that the festival gave her an opportunity to perform before the
native spectators once again.
It should be mentioned that Mary-Roze Abusefian graduated
from the Yerevan Art Theater Institute and worked at the Yerevan
Dramatic Theater. She has lived in San Fransisco since 1983,
where she established the National Theater in 1996. She
performed in a number of countries of the world with her
mono-plays.
Though the actress thinks that Yerevan changed a lot during
the recent years, according to her, the changes aren't quite
positive, and she can't say that Yerevan became nicer.
"Nevertheless bad things prevail over good things. And we easily
lost the achievements of our art," mentioned Mary-Roze
Abusefian.
