ART LOVER COMMUNITY GIVES LAST FAREWELL TO TIGRAN LEVONIAN,
RA PEOPLE'S ARTIST

YEREVAN, June 30, (Noyan Tapan). The art lover community of
Armenia gave the last farewell to Professor Tigran Lovonian, RA
People's Artist, laureate of state award and a famous singer.
The family of the singer who born in Beyrut immigrated to
Armenia in 1946. T. Levonian graduated from the Opera Direction
Department of the Institute of Dramatic Art of Moscow in 1977.
He started working in the Spendiarian Theatre of Opera and
Ballet as a soloist starting 1962. Out of the arias created with
his unique tenor and the incomparable manifestation, Saro in
"Anush" by A. Tigranian, Tirit in "Arshak the II" by T.
Chukhajian, Manriko and Othello in "Trubadur" by J. Verdi and in
"Othello" have left an unforgettable trace in the memories of
the Armenian and foreign audience. Several new performances were
produced due to his efforts; "The Barber Seville", "Davit Bek",
"Lebleji Hor-hor Agha". In 1991-99 when T. Levonian was the Head
and the Artistic Director of the Spendiarian Theatre of Opera
and Ballet, "Anush", "Arshak II", "Polictus" performances were
produced. He stood at the source of the Armenian cinematography.
He was shot in the musical "Karine". He produced "Almast" and
"Arshak the II" films based on respective classical Armenian
operas.
Artists pointed out with sorrow that the Armenian opera art
lost one of its remarkable figures as "Tigran Levinian was a
world great figure, great personality with his activity and
life".
Tigran Levonian's body was buried in the City Pantheon.
