ARMENIAN NATIONAL TEAM GETTING READY FOR SERIOUS MATCHES

YEREVAN, April 28 (Noyan Tapan). The Armenian U-19 national
team will participate in the second qualifying tournament of the
European Championship to be held in Slovakia on May 19-23. The
national teams of Germany, Portugal and Slovakia will be its
rivals. Only the winner of the group will have the right to
participate in the finals.
Armenian football players, getting ready for the gualifying
tournament under the leadership of Vardan Minasian, newly
appointed head coach, held two unofficial matches with the
national team of Georgia. A match held at the "Aig" complex in
the town of Ararat on April 26 finished with a score of 0:0. The
Armenian national team won in a match held at the stadium of the
"Pyunik" club on April 27 with a score of 1:0. Edgar
Manucharian, captain of the team, scored the only goal.
The Armenian national team, which in getting ready for the
qualifying tournament of the 2006 World Championship, will also
hold an unofficial match on April 28. It will recieve the
national team of Turkmenistan at the "Republican" stadium after
Vazgen Sargsian in Yerevan. The Armenian national team is only
114th in the same list.
