COURT RULES OUT 2-MONTH PRELIMINARY IMPRISONMENT INTO CASE OF JEWISH BUSINESSMEN

TBILISI, OCTOBER 16, NOYAN TAPAN. The Tbilisi City Court earlier this afternoon ruled out 2-month preliminary imprisonment into the case of Jewish businessmen, who are suspected of offering bribe to a Georgian official. The Court did not satisfy the petition on setting the businessmen free on bail, reported CAUCASUS PRESS. The Georgian law-enforcers detained two Jewish businessmen - Ronnie Fooks and Zeev Frenkiel on October 15. The businessmen were detained while meeting with the Deputy Finance Minster of Georgia Avtandil Kharaidze at a restaurant in the city of Batumi, Adjara region. According to the investigation, the businessmen were offering USD 7 million to the deputy minister of finance not to submit a complaint regarding the Arbitrage Court decision, according to which the government of Georgia was charged to pay 100 million dollar to the “Tramex International” Company. The case refers to corruption schemes, which worked during 90 years in Georgia. The Israeli businesspersons do not pledge guilty.
