UAF’s 157th Airlift Delivers $3.3 Million of Aid to Armenia

Glendale, CA – The United Armenian Fund’s 157th airlift arrived in Yerevan on September 25, delivering $3.3 million of humanitarian assistance. For this flight, the UAF itself collected $2.6 million of medicines and medical supplies donated by various charities, including AmeriCares ($1.6 million), Catholic Medical Mission Board ($757,000), Health Partners International of Canada ($178,000) and Direct Relief International ($97,000). Other organizations which contributed goods for this airlift were: Birthlink of U.K. ($146,000), Armenian EyeCare Project ($122,000), Armenian American Cultural Association ($54,000), Armenian Relief Society – West ($45,000), Eastern Prelacy ($40,000), Medical Exports of America ($40,000), Armenian Missionary Association of America ($38,000), Dr. Hagop Hovaguimian ($29,000), Howard Karagheusian Commemorative Corp. ($28,000). Also contributing supplies to this airlift were: Dr. Samuel Malayan ($25,000), Armenian Cultural Foundation ($23,000), Prof. Ernst Leumann ($22,000), St. Vartanants Armenian Apostolic Church ($22,000), and American University of Armenia ($11,000). Since its inception in 1989, the UAF has sent $603 million of humanitarian assistance to Armenia on board 157 airlifts and 1,829 sea containers. The UAF is the collective effort of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy, Armenian General Benevolent Union, Armenian Missionary Association of America, Armenian Relief Society, Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, and The Lincy Foundation.
