INFORMATION REGARDING THE 9TH MEETING OF THE COORDINATION COUNCIL OF ''BAKU-TBILISI-KARS'' PROJECT

TBILISI, AUGUST 4, NOYAN TAPAN. The 9th Meeting of the Coordination Council of "Baku-Tbilisi-Kars" project and the second meeting of the Trilateral Coordination Council were held on August 2-3, 2010, in Baku, at the level of Ministers responsible for Transport. The Georgian Delegation was headed by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili, reported "CAUCASUS PRESS". The Sides underlined the great political and economical importance of the realization of the "Baku-Tbilisi-Kars" new Railway Line project for all three countries that will give a possibility to attract more cargo in the region. The necessity of the realization of the project in preliminary agreed time was underlined. This railway line will promote the development of the infrastructure in the region and will increase the competitiveness of the transit corridor connecting Azerbaijan-Georgia and Turkey. In the framework of the above-mentioned event, Ramaz Nikolaishvili held a face to face meeting with the Minister of Transport of Azerbaijan Ziya Mammadov. The trilateral Ministerial meeting also took place in Baku. At the end of the event, the joint press-conference of the Ministers has held. All three Ministers were invited by the Prime-Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Arthur Rasi-Zade. During this meeting the actual issues of regional cooperation were discussed.
