CJSC "SCR" Increased the Volume of Freight in 2012 by 5.8%

Cargo volume of CJSC "South Caucasian Railway" in January-December 2012 amounted to 3460.2 thousand tons, up 5.8% over the same period of 2011.

For 2012 the export by rail reached 491.9 thousand tons of cargo, which is higher than in 2011 by 9.4%.
Cargo transportation in import traffic reached 1369.8 tons, up 2011’s index by 1.4%. During the reporting period 2012 in local traffic 1598.5 thousand tons of cargo were transported by rail (up 8.9%).
It should be noted that the average weight of a freight train has increased by 3.8% reaching 1451 tons against 2011's 1398 tons.
However, only in December 2012 307.1 thousand tons of cargo were transported (6.5% up compared to December 2011). Accordingly in export traffic 46.3 million tons of cargo were transported (an increase of 13.2% ), in import traffic 120 thousand tons (6.6%), in local traffic 140.8 thousand tons of cargo (4.4%). 
The railway is gradually increasing its key performance indicators, including the volume of freight traffic. We achieved these results thanks to SCR policy aimed at the improvement of the quality of services in the provision of rolling stock, the delivery time, the formation of tariff supply. 
 By improving the reliability of the railway infrastructure SCR reduced the delivery time, improve the reliability of transportation, reduce the risk of loss or damage of cargo.
 
 
SCR Significantly Improved Efficiency of the Locomotive and Car Parks
 
In January-December 2012 South Caucasus Railway significantly increased the level of efficiency of freight wagons and locomotive fleet. According to the latest statistic data of CJSC "SCR" wagon turnover accelerated to 0.6 days or 18.8% compared with 12 months of 2011. On the average one car was in circulation during 3.2 days.
The average daily production of one of the car reached 4516 net ton/km / wagon, which is 17.8% more than the same period of 2011.
The use of performance of the locomotive fleet also improved. In particular, the average daily mileage of the locomotive was 365.7 loc-km which is more than in January-December 2011 by 5.9%.
The Company achieved such results due to its policy of railway infrastructure and traction-rolling stock improvement on the basis of comprehensive measures to ensure traffic safety.
