On April 18, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John A. Heffern will open a joint performance of the Bad Boys of Dance, an American dance company, and the National Ballet of Armenia at the Aram Khachaturyan Concert Hall in Yerevan.  The performance blends the grace of classical ballet with the passion of popular dance.  The tour will continue with joint performances in Gyumri at the Atchemyan Drama Theater on April 19, 7:00p.m. and in Vanadzor at the Abelyan Drama Theater on April 20, 7:00p.m.  The performances are open to the public and free of charge.

Bad Boys of Dance was founded in 2007 by American dance prodigy Rasta Thomas. This amazing ensemble pushed the bounds of dance with athletic jumps, endless turns and endearing individuality.  The company has brought their magic to the masses, giving over 150 shows a year and performing for over 500,000 fans worldwide.  Bad Boys of Dance shared their signature piece, “Rock the Ballet,” with Armenian audiences.

The National Ballet of Armenia was founded in 1933 and is led by Artistic Director Roudolf Kharatian.  The company has toured widely in Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, and Asia.  Its repertoire is solidly anchored by the great classical ballets and also includes many works created specifically for the company, including the one-act ballet “La Revancha del Tango” that they featured in these joint performances.
