Yerevan—Raffi K. Hovannisian presided   19 April 2013   over an unprecedented summit of political forces, civil society representatives, and free citizens. Among the speakers were Armen Rustamyan of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, cultural icon Yervand Manaryan, and political analyst Hovhannes Igityan.

"We begin today to organize for our victory," Hovannisian said during his keynote address. "Only in unity can we develop a plan for national salvation."

At the conclusion of the summit, the citizens adopted a resolution by public vote. The text of the "Declaration of the New Armenia Movement," along with Raffi Hovannisian's speech, is enclosed.

Raffi Hovannisian will begin on Monday a border-to-border regional tour to engage citizens across the republic in discussion about the organization of the new movement. These discussions will serve as the foundation for the national program Hovannisian will offer on May 9, 2013, at 3pm, on Liberty Square.

Declaration of the NEW ARMENIA Movement

We, the citizens of the Republic of Armenia, hereby renounce the current regime, which conspired on February 18, 2013, to falsify the national will and usurp the presidency of our Republic.

We do not recognize the authority of the new administration and convene today to set the principles of an integral process that will result in its self-resignation and then in the accomplishment of our national revival.

As we develop and realize our program of returning power to the people, we are fully empowered by Article II of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the more sacred sources of our inalienable liberty.
