The Yerevan Expo center of the Yerevan Research Institute for Mathematical Machines hosted a conference on “The Perspectives of Education in the Sphere of Engineering in the Schools of Armenia”.
The major aim of the conference was to share the currently implemented projects and to unite all those interested in the education in engineering in the schools of Armenia.
“Meeting like this one is necessary to use the intellectual potential while working to make Armenia into a technology-oriented country. The development of robotics will particularly help us in this, and will become one of the cornerstones of strengthening our country’s competitiveness,” underlined Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises Karen Vardanyan.
“Knowledge gained during the school years remains for a lifetime. Our readiness to provide new quality to the educational programs has an important mission. It will increase the willingness to discover and to create something new among those who are engaged in the robotics. To achieve the set goals we need to provide a change of generations in the sphere of engineering,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
During the conference the school concept for laboratory based on the contemporary methodology of IT education developed by the “Nairi” consortium was presented, followed by the contest of educational animation films and games. The conference also hosted presentation of the projects participating in the “Robots in Everyday Life” contest.
During the event, robot-making sets were handed over to the heads of robotics groups in the frame of the “Robotics begins from School” project.
For the realization of the project only in 2013 VivaCell-MTS allocated 30 million drams.
