Tbilisi (Georgia) - In March 2014 22-year-old Georgian freeskier Iva Tsiklauri completed an incredible freeriding expedition to three peaks of Caucasus mountains – Aragats (4091 m.) in Armenia, Bazarduzu (4466 m.) in Azerbaijan and Shkhara (5200 m.) in Georgia. Iva Tsiklauri became the first athlete in his discipline to conquer the Caucasus titans.
This was 25-day expedition, when Iva Tsiklauri, his climbing partners and production crew travelled through three countries to climb beautiful but also difficult and dangerous mountains in Caucasus followed by Ivas’ spectacular freeride descends.
It was a quest for a young freeskier to challenge his limits and do something that nobody has done before. And he did it hard way – days and days of walking, climbing, waiting, climbing and finally freeriding.
There were many difficulties along his way, mostly by reasons of unbelievably heavy weather conditions, but he and his team accomplished the expedition successfully. „It was a great experience to discover the mystic peaks of Caucasia. This unforgettable adventure opened a new page in my freeskiing career and gave me the best feeling any skier can have. Mountains are alive and this is where I belong” – says Iva.
