YEREVAN, APRIL 30, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian side should
immediately rescind its signatures from the Armenian-Turkish
protocols, said Ara Nranian, a member of the "ARF" parliamentary
faction, during the April 29 debate. In his opinion, the
dangers that they noticed in the protocols have not been
neutralized: the protocols contain preconditions and pose a
danger to Armenia's security.
"The authorities denied from the very first that there are
preconditions in the protocols, but now they have made sure that
these dangers exist. You do not ratify the protocols because you
see the dangers posed by them," Ara Nranian said, addressing
another participant of the debate - the member of "Republican
party of Armenia" (RPA) faction Sukias Avetisian.
For his part, S. Avetisian insisted on RPA's viewpoint that
there are no preconditions in the protocols and that by
announcing its decision on suspension of the protocols, the
Armenian side gave Turkey to understand that Armenia will not
make any concessions in the process of normalizing relations
with Turkey. "At the same time, the suspension of the
normalization process was not conditioned by the preconditions
set by the Turkish side: the expiry of reasonable timeframes was
the reason for suspension," he noted.
In response to A. Nranian's remark that Armenia did not
ratify the protocols because it perceived the dangers from them,
A. Sukiasian declared: "If the Armenian-Turkish protocols are
discussed again, they will be discussed in the same text. There
are no dangers".
