To the United Nations Security Council
Regarding Armenian the destruction of  Genocide Memorial Church in Der Zor

Dear UN Security Council leadership,

Another modern threat was created this time targeted at one of the historical, cultural and spiritual monuments, the Genocide Memorial Church in Der Zor that commemorates the memory of Genocide victims in the region.

Following the same logic, starting from 1988 Armenian historic architectural and cultural monuments have been targeted, including Khachkar destruction in Nakhchivan by Azeris, as if the genocide and deportation of 600 thousand Armenians in Azerbaijan during 1988-1990 was not enough.

It is not enough for us to repeat that an unpunished crime creates new crimes. This is the time to find the criminal and punish them.

Such examples for Armenians are too many, it has started from when the Armenian genocide has been planned in 1894-96 and continued for 30 years till 1923, the crimes changed from genocide and deportation to cultural genocide, genocide denial, falsification of Armenian history and culture, xenophobia, hatred and racism, which later in 1937 expressed itself in the form of Dersim massacres and persecutions.

Dear UN Security Council leadership,

We suggest that you condemn this barbaric act and initiate a global investigation to find those responsible and punish them. If you manage to efficiently find and punish people responsible for the crime, it will only bring respect and praise to your institution.

We believe that according to the principle of “Crime and Punishment” the justice will be restored and Armenians can believe in you and be grateful to you. Otherwise, this dangerous act is getting out of control in all possible ways, as a global threat to human values.

Armenak Abrahamyan
President of Western Armenian Republic
