In the context of 2015’s Khachaturian International Festival a large number of world and Armenian premieres are presented. Along with the popular works, the event organizers make it possible for the audience to get acquainted with new creations. The chamber concert held on October 14 at the House-Museum of Aram Khachaturian was no exception.

During the concert evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian composer Georgy Sviridov were presented two Armenian premiers of his creation: “Petersburgian Songs” - cycle for soprano, mezzo-soprano, baritone, bass and piano trio on Alexander Blok’s words and “Country of My Fathers”- poem for tenor, bass and piano on Avetiq Isahakyan’s words. The evening included performances by “Khachaturian Trio”, Kristine Safaryan (soprano), Greta Baghiyan (mezzo-soprano), Grigor Abrahamyan (baritone), Hayk Tigranyan (bass) and Vasili Rolich (piano).

The pianist of "Khachaturian Trio" Armine Grigoryan noted that already for the second year they have been participating in the Festival: “Last year we had a very interesting participation: we presented three instrumental concert, the musicians of the trio acted as soloists with the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia performing Concerts for Violin and Piano, as well as Concerto-Rhapsody for Cello by Aram Khachaturian. This year we perform creations of Sviridov”-said Armine Grigoryan. 

Violinist Karen Shakhgaldyan considers the idea of Festival organization a successful one: “I am grateful to Sergey Smbatyan for that. In Armenia wonderful concerts are held, however, the cultural life of Armenia needs constant musical and concert activities at different levels. I think this is the main idea of the Festival – to represent a variety of musical genres. We are pleased to perform at the Festival with the given program. Sviridov was closely connected with Armenia: it is a well known fact that he was a great admirer of Avetik Isahakyan. It is not accidental that one of the presented works was written on Isahakyan’s words”. 

It should be mentioned that the 3rd Khachaturian International Festival is held under the patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. This musical celebration is realized by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (general partner VivaCell-MTS), with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture. The festival is sponsored by "Pyunik" Charitable Foundation, “Luding" Company, "Jermuk Group" and "Ani Plaza".
