On October 28 at the Komitas House -Museum Concert Hall, in the framework of the 3rd Khachaturian International Festival, a presentation of Woodwind Piano Quartet after famous composer Alexander Arutiunian was held. It's a special ensemble, probably unique one in the world. It has the following structure: Gevorg Avetisyan (flute), David Gyulamiryan (clarinet), Nikolay Poghosyan (bassoon), Lilit Zakaryan (piano). Quartet members are professional musicians of the Youth Orchestra, who come up with orchestra and as soloists.

Alexander Arutiunian’s daughter, pianist Narine Arutiunian, noted that the idea of the quartet was a surprise: "About a year ago, when I learned about this idea, I was very surprised because I had never heard of such a quartet format. Later on I realized this as an original idea. If I'm not mistaken, it is the only one in the world. Naturally, there are no compositions written for woodwind instruments and piano combination. Today we are presented specially adopted versions of classical compositions. I think, contemporary composers will write works for this Quartet". 

Speaking about the Khachaturian Festival Narine Arutiunian indicates that she has attended few concerts and she likes the style of it, the way the Youth Orchestra sounds and the way it is conducted by Sergey Smbatyan. "Already for the second time the Youth Orchestra is celebrating the anniversary of Alexander Arutiunian. First it was in 2000, when the composer was alive and we were celebrating his 90th anniversary, the second is today - his 95th anniversary already without him. Over the years, professional musicians have recorded large increases. Sergey Smbatyan makes a tremendous work with them and I wish them new heights"-said composer's daughter.

Pianist Lilit Zakaryan noted that the central part of Alexander Arutiunian’s creative heritage is allocated to compositions for woodwind instruments. Lilit Zakaryan mentioned that they get unique sound through Woodwind Piano Quartet, which will be loved by the audience. The pianist said that Khachaturian festival is a great opportunity to interact with famous musicians and it was a great experience for all members of their staff. 

Clarinetist David Gyulamiryan said that by creating a quartet they wanted something brand new to be done in the musical life. If in the future there will be other Woodwind Piano Quartets based on their example, then it will be a great honor for them and they will be confident that their experience was successful.

According to Nikolay Poghosyan's (bassoon) words, in spring of 2016 the Quartet will tour in China, participating in several festivals.

Flutist Gevorg Avetisyan added that by the end of this year they plan to release their first album to not go to China empty-handed.

On October 28 were performed works by Alexander Arutiunian, Aram Khachaturian, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Georges Bizet and Sergei Rachmaninoff which had been transformed and adopted for this Quartet by young musician A. Berberian. 

It should be mentioned that the 3rd Khachaturian International Festival is held under the patronage of RA President Serzh Sargsyan. This musical celebration is realized by the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia (general partner VivaCell-MTS), with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture. The festival is sponsored by "Pyunik" Charitable Foundation, “Luding" Company, "Jermuk Group" and "Ani Plaza".
