The society is sick if the kindness is not enough there: said Priest Ter Karapet Karapetyan during the press conference in «Noyan Tapan» on February 17th, which was devoted to the Random Acts Of Kindness Day. According to him, believers always create good things in the earth and being made in the image of God they tend to imitate him. «The good work has a boomerang effect: if one day you do somebody a favour after a while you get 10 times more than you did»,-mentioned Ter Karapet.
The head of “Sociometer” Independent Sociological Center Aharon Adibekyan, presenting the results of international researches which was held nearly in 180 countries, announced that Armenians are in the 119th place according to the frequency of charities and are in the 40th place with their hospitality. According to him, there is no need to be very rich for doing kind things. «There are a lot of countries whose Gross domestic product (GDP) is many times lower than in Armenia, but according to the frequency of charities they are in the first places in the world»,- mentioned A. Adibekyan, adding, that the desire is much more important for charities than money. As A. Adibekyan thinks, the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia does not support the charity because philanthropists continue to pay taxes. According to him, in abroad people do not pay taxes if they do charities, but in Armenia «they say if you want to do charities do it from your own pocket».
A. Adibekyan also mentioned that today in Armenia the most important task is to raise a generation who will be ready to do charities.
Psychologist Anna Badalyan claims, that the kindness occupies a great place in the characteristics of the Armenian ethnos and this can be proved by a number of Armenian phrases like Bari luys, Bari or, Barin ynd dzez, Barin ara jury gcir and also Barev. According to her kindness has its unique place in the souls of Armenian youngsters but the culture of doing charity is not shaped yet. She also stated, that doing charity is not exactly means to give money to someone, volunteering and sharing your knowledge with others can also be considered as charity.
The president of the social NGO «Mayr-Mane named after Arshak Dabaghyan» Manushak Stepanyan does not underestimate the fact that Armenians are ready to do charities. It is already two years since M. Stepanyan deals with people who are in need and she states that there are always a lot of generous people who unselfishly provide assistance. According to her, due to a number of known and unknown benefactors nearly 60 children has got medical care during the last two years.
M. Stepanyan also highlighted the role of Television in spreading goodness and urged «to clean television from the trashes which instil into children all the wickedness and vice.»
