Ambassador Yeganian’s meeting with the Minister of Canadian Heritage

On April 22, Armen Yeganian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, had a meeting with Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, who is in charge for culture, telecommunication and National Capital Commission portfolios.
 
During the meeting the parties discussed a wide range of issues on bilateral agenda.
 
Summarizing the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, organized throughout 2015, the parties also discussed upcoming events in 2016, particularly, the Second Global Forum "Against the Crimes of Genocide", which is to take place on April 23, in Yerevan. Minister Joly mentioned that she is well aware of commemorative events dedicated to the 101st Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide that will be organized in Canada, and outlined her intention to participate in the march of May 8 in Montreal.
 
Ambassador Yeganian presented in details Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) at the beginning of April and its consequences. He urged to demonstrate unequovical approach and to condemn the initiator of military actions by addressed calls.
 
Armen Yeganian and Mélanie Joly discussed the process of preparation of joint cultural events dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Armenia's independence and establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Canada (to be celebrate in 2017), as well as the 150th anniversary of Canada next year. Ms. Joly reconfirmed her constant support to those projects.
