On July 16, 2017, in Avan community of Aragatsotn Marz, a collection point of agricultural products was opened, where the residents of the community can deliver their agricultural products at market prices.
The event was attended by Mr. Artashes Kirakosyan, Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Agriculture, the representatives of “Partnerships for Rural Prosperity" program (USAID/PRP) funded by USAID and implemented by SME Development National Center of Armenia and its partners, Mr. Sasha Torosyan, Head of Avan community, and community members.
The newly opened collection point for Avan community is the initiative of "Yeremyan Projects" organization in the context of the Corporate Social Responsibility Concept. The goal of this project is to make the community life livelier through realization of agricultural products, improvement of collecting process and assessment of community capacities, as well as to create a sustainable source of income for families living in the community and provide consumers with high-quality agricultural products.
Guest of the event, Artashes Kirakosyan, Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Agriculture welcomed the audience and noted:
“This initiative has a clear mission and purpose. It only remains for all parties to put all their efforts and endeavors. This is the work which will provide employment for villagers and will become a source of income for them. It's not a secret that there are problems with agricultural products collecting in our country. This is a good opportunity for the villagers to have no problems related to their products in the future. Congratulations! Let the initiative serve its purpose and become exemplary”.
During the meeting with Avan community residents, “Yeremyan Projects” founder Mr. David Yeremyan mentioned:
“Our goal of creating a joint work for Avan community is already a reality. This is neither help, nor charity, but a strong desire to promote and encourage cooperation. Your activity is very important, because only then can we see the results of mutually beneficial work. I know how rich this village is with goods, and together we can appreciate those goods».
Sasha Torosyan, Head of Avan community, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community and mentioned that the first step towards solving one of the priority issues for their community was done”.
The fact that the community extended on the southern slopes of Aragats will present all its goods in the consumer market of agricultural products evoked great enthusiasm among villagers and they expressed their readiness to cooperate with the initiators.
During the event other issues related to the community were discussed with the villagers, as well as directions of creating appropriate cooperation platforms between socially responsible business, state, international organizations and the community, and prospects for effective, profitable cooperation.
The event ended with the performance by “Akunq” folk music ensemble that is the inseparable part of the "Yeremyan Projects" team. The songs performed by Akunq were symbolic, as Sasunians have been living there continuously.
