YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, NOYAN TAPAN. Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan on October 12 sent a message to U.S President Barack
Obama, in which he congratuled B. Obama on receiving the 2009
Nobel Peace Prize.
The message reads:
"Dear Mr. President.
On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I heartily
congratule you on receiving the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
Armenia welcomes your efforts on the establishment of
confidence, stability, security and cooperation in the world.
From the very first days of your presidency, you have undertaken
to carry out a number of important and bold initiatives, in
particular those aimed at resolving several long-standing
conflicts and building political dialog with various forces. We
are convinced that all the current difficulties and
controversies in the world can and must be solved by means of
dialog because only the solutions achieved through a dialog can
satisfy all the sides and become stable and lasting. We also
appreciate the constructive activities of the United States as a
Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group to help settle the Nagorno
Karbakh conflict.
I express my sincere gratitide for the consistent
assistanace that the U.S. administration, particularly you and
Secretary of State Clinton, have provided for the normalization
of Armenian-Turkish relations. You personally reaffirmed this
position in our phone conversation which took place during my
meetings with Armenian communities in the U.S. I am sure that
without the decisive assistance of the United States it would be
impossible to make efficient efforts in this respect.
I wish you success in our activities in the name of the
triumph of universal values and the establishment of global
stability and security. Your Excellency, please accept my
compliments".
