YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. Secretary of the RA National Security Council Arthur Baghdasarian on October 7 received a delegation headed by Luigi Soreca, Head of the International Affairs Unit of the Justice, Freedom and Security Directorate-General of the European Commission. The issue of setting up a Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security of the Armenia-European Union Cooperation Committee was discussed at the meeting, in which Head of the European Commission Delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Raul de Lutzenberger also took part. According to the press service of the RA National Security Council, Armenia will become the fourth country to establish such a subcommittee which will promote Armenia-EU dialog and expand cooperation in the fields of justice, freedom and security. At the suggestion of A. Baghdasarian, the sides took a decision to work out the subcommittee's working plan with the respective timetable of actions. The sides also addressed issues related to provision of technical amd expert assistance by the European Commission to Armenia during the formation of the subcommittee and its work. They attached special importance to the introduction of a simplified system of granting entry visas between Armenia and EU member states. Problems of Armenia-EU cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Program were discussed at the meeting. The sides assessed positively the level of Armenia-EU cooperation.
