YEREVAN, OCTOBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. "We are certain that this
is the correct strategy and that the Republic of Armenia will
come out victorious from this process. There are no
preconditions stated in the pre-signed documents," announced
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan in response to the
question by member of the "Heritage" faction Armen Martirosyan
on the perspectives and possible risks of the normalization of
Turkish-Armenian relations during the October 7 session at the
National Assembly.
"The issue is how events will develop after signing and
ratifying the protocols and that is where we must step up
efforts to implement all the propositions foreseen in the
protocols. From that angle, our Turkish counterparts can view
Armenia as the one setting forth preconditions. For instance, if
there is going to be a railway, then work must continue in that
direction," said the Prime Minister.
Sargsyan also informed that all Armenian ministries have
prepared, are still preparing and have presented their analyses
and evaluations on the possible reopening of the
Turkish-Armenian border to the Prime Minister. According to
Sargsyan, the majority of the materials are also confidential
because they refer to issues concerning national security.
Tigran Sargsyan mentioned that they are using all the studies
conducted by the political parties.
"The Armenian Revolutionary Federation had prepared a long
analysis. We have discussed it and expressed gratitude to our
partners. That analysis included many valuable ideas and
formulated questions and the answers to those questions will
help us in doing our job," said Sargsyan.
T. Sargsyan also informed that the government will be ready
to provide the National Assembly with information regarding the
activities to be implemented in the respective spheres.
"These are activities that will lead to the strengthening
of the capacity of our economy," said the Prime Minister.
