YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 8, NOYAN TAPAN. In response to the
inquiry of the RA Ministry of Justice, the Los Angeles Office of
AXA French life insurance company's Settlement Claim Fund stated
that the recent decision of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of
Appeals will not cover the process of paying insurance
compensation to heirs of the Armenian Genocide victims. The
heirs will receive these sums until late 2009. The total amount
of compensation sums to be paid makes 11 million 350 thousand
dollars, NT correspondent was informed by spokeswoman for RA
Minister of Justice Lana Mshetsian.
To recap, the indicated court ruled that the compensation
of insurance sums to heirs of the Armenian Genocide victims is
unlawful because the United States has not recognized the
Armenian Genocide.
