YEREVAN, SEPTEMER 2, NOYAN TAPAN. The Investigation Service of RA Ministry of Defence initiated criminal proceedings against Captain Andok Galstian, the commander of the 2nd company of 3rd battalion in Vayk military unit, under the RA Criminal Code's Article 375 Part 2 - abuse of power, transgression of authority. The criminal case was opened in connection with the fact that A. Galstian had beaten Private Aram Mkrtchian, a serviceman for a fixed period in the indicated military unit. On August 28 A. Mkrtchian was taken to Central Clinical Hospital of RA Ministry of Defence where he underwent an operation. At 8.05 am on September 1, A. Mkrtchian died. According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Defence, Captain Andok Galstian was arrested on August 29. The court of general jurisdiction of Ararat and Vayots Dzor marzes (provinces) granted the investigator's petition on September 1 and made a decision to choose arrest as a precautionary measure for A. Galstian. During questioning A. Galstian made a confession of his crime.
