Construction of apartment buildings in Gyumri proceeds
according to schedule

YEREVAN, JUNE 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The process of the
construction work being done by Glendale Hills CJSC in Lori and
Shirak marzes (provinces) was discussed at the June 23 working
consultation conducted by Head of the RA Presidential Staff
Karen Karapetian. RA Minister of Urban Development, Chief
Architect of Armenia, the regional governors of Lori and Shirak,
the mayor of Gyumri, the director general of Glendale Hills,
other officials took part in the consultation.
Under the agreement, Glendale Hills must build 3,030
apartmemts in Gyumri, and it is envisaged completing the
construction of 1,320 apartments this year. The company is also
building dwelling houses in rural settlements of Lori marz.
The minister of urban development presented the process of
the work, saying that the construction of apartment buildings in
Gyumri is proceeding according to the schedule, and they will
start delivering apartments for use in early November. As for
houses in rural areas, the minister announced that the
excavation was completed and the construction work has begun.
The director general of Glendale Hills said that their
company mainly uses local workforce, with 700 people being
engaged in work at the moment. By the end of 2009, the number of
workers in Shirak and Lori will reach 3,000.
According to the RA presidential press service, K.
Karapetian underlined the necessity to efficiently carry out the
full amount of work within the envisaged period, noting that
they will be consistent in this respect. In his words, it is
important to make the list of beneficiaries accurate and rule
out any abuses. He said that the program's implementation will
be supervised by the Armenian president who will soon
familiarize himself with the work process on the spot.
