In the community house of Sotq of Gegharquniq region, on April 19, a public discussion took place dealing with the problem of legality of the construction of the grinding and sorting complex. The discussion was organized by the environmental information and non-governmental centre “Orhus” in Gavar. The representatives of “Geo Pro Mining” company which rules the goldmine of Sotq refused to take part in the discussion, mentioning that the grinding and sorting complex is not a structure but merely equipment, which is located ten kilometers far from the community and it doesn't disturb the population, it doesn’t leave any negative impact on ecosystem of Sevan lake and it solves the social problem of the community. According to the ruler of the community of Sotq Kolik Shahsuvaryan and the coordinator of “Orhus” centre in Gavar Lianna Asoyan, the constructions of the grinding and sorting complex are carried out without public hearings. The participants of the discussion wrote an application statement to the president of the committee of problems concerning Sevan Lake to prevent the further construction of the complex.
