Armen Movsisian: We will start power delivery from Armenia
to Turkey in time

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 23, NOYAN TAPAN. The agreements on power
delivery from Armenia to Turkey starting from the spring of 2009
remain in force. According to the Turkish company that signed
the respective agreement, it is carrying out all preparatory
work according to the schedule, and there can be no problems,
the RA minister of energy and natural resources Armen Movsisian
said at the December 22 press conference.
In his words, the Turkish side is carrying out preparatory
work of technical and organizational character. The minister
expressed confidence that "we will start power delivery in
time", and noted he has no grounds for suspicion concerning the
Turkish side.
To recap, during the visit of Turkish president to Yerevan
in early September, Unit company (Turkey) signed an agreement on
power delivery from Armenia to Turkey with the Armenian ministry
of energy and natural resources and High-Voltage Electric
Networks of Armenia CJSC. Under the agreement, 1.5 billion kwh
of power will be supplied annually through the city of Kars in
the initial period. In parallel with an increase of capacities,
power export is likely to reach 3.5 billion kwh.
