The Human Rights Defender, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, participated in the General Assembly of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) in Brussels, held on November 22-23.
 
The purpose of the General Assembly meeting was, among other topics, to examine the activities and progress of the ENNHRI in 2022, as well as discuss the actions for 2023 and adopt a new strategic plan.
 
At the meeting, attended by the representatives of NHRIs of more than 40 countries, the third Annual Report of ENNHRI on the state of the rule of law in Europe, the current challenges presented in the mentioned report*, and the progress recorded in various fields were discussed.
 
Within the framework of the Assembly, the NHRIs discussed the challenges of the ombudsperson institutions in the new security situations and agreed to continue the work, first of all, in the direction of increasing the resistance of the institutions by developing and approving projects for ensuring the resistance. Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan presented the work and challenges of the Human Rights Defender’s institution of Armenia during and after the aggression on Armenia on September 13-14 of this year, considering the widespread nature of human rights violations and a large number of war crimes.
 
The heads of NHRIs also discussed the preliminary action plan of ENNHRI for 2023, and presented observations and recommendations.
