YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 12, NOYAN TAPAN. At the November 12
sitting, the RA State Commission for Protection of Economic
Competition allowed the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD) to acquire Nutfood company's newly-issued
shares that make up 28.3% of the authorized capital of this
company. The commission did not consider it as concentration of
the right of property.
To recap, EBRD had applied to the Commission with the aim
of acquiring Nutfood's shares. A note about concentration had
also been filed. The Commission initiated administrative
proceedings which did not reveal any circumstances for
forbidding concentration of the right of property. According to
the Commission, the newly-created Nutfood company is engaged in
production of meat products, while EBRD carries out investment
and crediting activities, and its investments will be spent on
the purchase of new equipment and the introduction of new
technologies. Taking the above mentioned facts into account, the
Commission considered that the given deal does not restrict
competition and permitted the deal.
