ORANGE COMPANY OFFERS HIGHEST PRICE FOR RECEIVING LICENCE
OF 3rd MOBILE PHONE COMMUNICATION OPERATOR IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 7, NOYAN TAPAN. The tender packages for a
licence of the 3rd mobile phone communication operator and
permission to use radiofrequences in Armenia were opened on
October 6. 3 companies participated in the tender and they
offered the following prices: Orange (France Telecom, France) -
51.5 million euros, Digicell, Blackrock Communications
(English-Irish consortium) - 45.6 million euros, and Tele2 AB
(Sweden) - 31.66 million euros.
The tender commission will announce the winner company
within the next two days.
According to the RA minister of transport and communication
Gurgen Sargsian, one important condition of giving a licence is
that the winner company must have the opportunity to invest 200
million euros in Armenia within two years after receiving the
licence. The winner must register a state company within 10 days
after being announced as the winner and will receive its licence
in mid December.
